Biography:
Sr Prof Paul Tsui is currently the CEO of Esri China (Hong Kong). Esri is the world leader of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping software. Prior to joining Esri, he worked in Ordnance Survey, the world renowned national mapping agency of the United Kingdom. As a professional, Sr Tsui is Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and is serving as the Vice President of the Institute. He is also Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Professional Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Qualified Environmental Professionals as well as Registered Professional Surveyor (Land Surveying) in Hong Kong. Moreover, Prof Tsui actively participates in volunteer services in the industry and education sector. He was appointed as the Sector Specialist in the Information and Communications Technology Sector by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. He also served as the Chairman of the Department of Geography Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Baptist University. In the academic and research aspect, Prof Tsui is serving as Adjunct Professor in the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has participated in many GIS research projects related to spatial data modeling and analysis. Prof Tsui was awarded Outstanding Alumni Award in 2020 by the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; and the Best Paper Award in 1998 held by the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Science (CPGIS). Prof Tsui holds a degree of Master of Philosophy in GIS.
